XXXIVth Congress of the ESSR, Berne, 1999

Dear Colleagues

May we invite you to consider joining us in Bern in 1999 for the 34th ESSR Meeting. It may seem to be for too early to ask you to plan your participation in the next ESSR Congress, but you will not regret your early registration. We have already organized a meeting that might be a landmark in the history of this society, It should be one of the most important European Surgical Meetings of 1999, blending the successful tradition of ESSR scientific meetings with new ideas like a two day symposium of satellite transmissions of live operations from the most important centers in the world and half day symposiums on hot topics ranging from molecular biology to transplantation.

Our 1999 congress in Bern will be equally attractive to surgeons interested in basic and clinical research, as well as clinicians and medical professionals. Meeting colleagues, friends, research professionals, clinical surgeons and many professionals from medical and pharmaceutical companies will offer you a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and to broaden your surgical view. We hope that you will actively participate in the lively and controversial discussions in our scientific sessions and symposia.

In addition to your scientific gains at the 1999 congress, Bern, the capital of Switzerland, also has a lot to offer to you. There are excellent shopping facilities in traffic free areas of the medieval old town, many places of cultural interest and plenty of cozy native restaurants providing a relaxing environment for a stroll in town and a change of atmosphere from your daily routine.

The ESSR congress, Bern and Switzerland have so much to offer! We hope you cannot resist our cordial invitation to join us in Bern in April 1999.
